This is a pair of two antique books, Volume 1 & 2 of Winkles' British Cathedrals. An English language, hard bound illustrated reference guide to 19th century architecture, dating to the early Victorian period, dated 1838. Robert Garland (1808-1863) was a 19th century architect working out of London at the end of the Georgian period until his passing in the mid Victorian. The text descriptions were added by Thomas Moule (1784 - 1851), an English antiquarian, a map maker and write of heraldic interest. The title published by Effingham Wilson, Royal Exchange and Charles Tilt out of London's Fleet Street. Presented in good antique condition - intact with minor marks to pages. Graced with superb frontispieces to each volume. Fascinating descriptions across 144 and 140 pages respectively. Delightful plate engravings accentuate various scenes from each cathedral.
