Set of Six Staffordshire 'Gaudy Welsh' Tea Cups & Saucers c.1840-1850

Six bone china tea cups and saucers made in Staffordshire around 1840 -50. Each piece is hand-painted with a bold, so-called, Gaudy Welsh pattern of flowers and leaves in bright enamel colours, reserved against a dark blue ground overlaid with leaves and flowers in copper lustre. Neither the cups nor saucers are marked. All are in excellent, robust condition, which would make them very suitable for use and would make a delightful and unusual gift.
